Time to become a developer

As we are getting closer to the end of our Ironhack experience, just before our final project we had two weeks of coding, that were aiming not only to make us realize how the whole structuring works from the other side, but hopefully will help us live in love and peace with our future(if we find a job ofc, fingers crossed)close friends — front-end developers!

Everyone has bee given a Zeplin file and the fun begun. We had a new Teacher for this time period — Micheal. He introduced us to the HTML and CSS principles, wrote the HTML structure with us and was there to guide us through and answer all questions of the lost babies we all of a sudden became.

This is how the website I received as my coding challenge was suppose to look like. First we started with an HTML structure and after that we jumped into CSS. Micheal guided us as at the beginning of every new task to later on let us play with the whole coding stuff ourselves a bit.

I did try a little bit of coding before with online classes and even though I did build something, I was very confused about what and why am I actually doing it. Now, with a help of Micheal I have to say I had a lot of fun and strongly enjoyed those two weeks of coding! I am genuinely looking forward to dive a bit deeper on my own — hopefully understanding a bit of Java. What made the whole process much easier was for sure the fact that we wrote the whole HTML structure together. Obviously, you implement some new things as you go forward, but having a base for sure helped me avoid some crucial mistakes.

I’d like to present you the outcome of what I coded. There you go, the desktop design:

As well as a mobile version:

When it comes to the mobile version I still have to work on the quotes section. I would like to obtain less cramped design by having only one card displayed and making the rest interactive, so you could just swipe left and see the next card. I unfortunately did not have the time to try it out yet. But once I figure it out, expect an update to this article!

I wanted to thank Michael, our teacher for the 2 past code weeks, I enjoyed it very much and am looking forward to more coding!
